mappae animadversionis
maps of apperception, of feeling, of observation
Five recordings of movements and sounds in the park Georgium printed onto aluminium plates, were exhibited in public in diverse places in the park Georgium, Dessau, 2008 – 2010. All these plates are related to the domain of the air. The Trees’Rustling is caused by the wind brushing through the leaves, creating movements all throughout the park; the Air-Drifters are birds and insects travelling through the air; Background-Rumbling is noise transported through the air. All these recordings are spontaneous, moments of perception of movement and situation, sometimes restored from memory. The recordings are done from a bird´s eye view and combined with cartographic elements, producing a general chart of events, of moods. Here the subjects are details of the park. I coloured them according to emotions linked with the places.
The Plates, which could be discovered accidentally, were intended to suck visitors into reality and relate them directly to their environment. I did not place them at much-visited beauty-spots. They stood by the path, but one needed a certain attentiveness to notice them. I led guided tours around the plates.
