    mappae animadversionis

maps of apperception, of feeling, of observation

Five recordings of movements and sounds in the park Georgium printed onto aluminium plates, were exhibited in public in diverse places in the park Georgium, Dessau, 2008 – 2010. All these plates are related to the domain of the air. The Trees’Rustling is caused by the wind brushing through the leaves, creating movements all throughout the park; the Air-Drifters are birds and insects travelling through the air; Background-Rumbling is noise transported through the air. All these recordings are spontaneous, moments of perception of movement and situation, sometimes restored from memory. The recordings are done from a bird´s eye view and combined with cartographic elements, producing a general chart of events, of moods. Here the subjects are details of the park. I coloured them according to emotions linked with the places.
The Plates, which could be discovered accidentally, were intended to suck visitors into reality and relate them directly to their environment. I did not place them at much-visited beauty-spots. They stood by the path, but one needed a certain attentiveness to notice them. I led guided tours around the plates.

    Waters change Meadows

In the summer of 2009 I observed the liveliness of water meadows in their changing overflooded states at the edge of the nature reserve, inbetween the parks. I developed besides drawings and wire-objects light boxes and fotograms, which gave me the possibility to show the complexity and mood in different layers.
The photograms the Burgwallwiesen show a meadow with abundance of wild flowers and grasses at different times, seen from a bird’s-eye view. I traced the atmosphere at dawn and dusk, midday and night, ways of Insects, plants and animal paths became visible.
Light boxes show observations of several overflooded meadows at different times. The
occurence of water and its way are recorded in diverse layers.
The water was accompanied by sounds, like the echo of the fire-bellied toads coming and going with the water. I followed this specific sounds and reflected the particularities in wire-maps.

    Wire-Maps

sense perception in the Park Georgium, Dessau, 2007-2008

I recorded the liveliness of the landscape in the park during several walks.
The park consists partly of areas allowed to grow wild, and also it is a public garden of the town of Dessau, which many townspeople use daily, for shortcuts to their work or leisure-walks.
I developed wire-objects, which suggest movements, indicate actions and materialize relationships between places, texts supplement impressions and recount events. Occurences caused by sudden impact of wind, indication of heights and hollows, as I took them in, animal movements and their routes, the inventory of locations become visible, also itineraries formed out of memory.
