born 1970 in Hamburg, Germany, lives and works mainly in Hamburg and at different places of observations
As artist I am concerned with apperception of landscape and its liveliness.
It is my intention to record the singularity of moments and the particularity of places in the constant change of life. The diversified impressions by walking on obviously and more hidden ways, by different views of altitude, different times and lights play a role by my studies. Sounds and silence, airstreams, the occurrence of waters, traces on the ground and creatures passing by become visible in subjective cartographies in drawings, wire-objects, texts and photograms.
Points of reference, evolution-lines of paths and encounters form pivots of experience with entirely different spaces.
Taking in the Norwegian landscape opened my senses and gave rise to a subjective cartography and reflection of my environment.
After having been concerned with nature left to itself in Norway I proceeded my studies in the idealized nature of the 18th Century English Landscape Gardens during a scholarship in England.
I continued these studies in the Garden Realm Dessau-Wörlitz in Germany, shaped after the model of various English Landscape Gardens which I had come to know and amplified my observations in the nature reserve, building a transition between the parks, with marsh forests and water meadows of the river Elbe running close by.
As artist in Residence in Nelson B.C. Canada I investigated the complex As artist in Residence in Nelson B.C. Canada I investigated the vast mountainous landscape in the inland rainforest of the West Kootenays with its density of vegetation by different views of altitude.
I proceeded my studies at places related to the river Elbe, inbetween nature reserves, forests, cultural landscape and urban areas:
at creek Thalmühlenbach, Höhbeck, upsetted moraine in the glacial valley, Wendland, I investigated sense perceptipns in the change of the seasons.
In the environment of Salzwedel I followed the run of the river Dumme and Jeetze, from the spring to the mouth into the river Elbe, comparing the former runs of the meander to the now straightened lines.
In Magdeburg I observed how nature reflects at sculpture park around Kunstmuseum Magdeburg and the nearby Rotehorn Park, situated on an isle of the river Elbe.
